Boeing Business Jets ha consegnato oggi il centesimo BBJ "green", ovvero un esemplare volante ma non del tutto completato. Rappresentanti del Governo dell’India hanno accettato l’aereo “milestone” presso il Centro Consegne Boeing di Seattle.
"Cento esemplari del nostro aerei d’affari, in dieci anni, testimoniano l’ampio successo del BBJ ed il costante impegno degli addetti Boeing che progettano, vendono, costruiscono e supportano il derivato executive del B.737," ha dichiarato Steven Hill, responsabile della Boeing Business Jets.
Il costruttore consegna questi aerei VIP nella cosiddetta condizione "green" (NdR: dal colore della lamiera), senza l’arredamento del vano passeggeri e privo di colorazione esterna. I clienti si accordano poi con studi di interni e centri specializzati “di completamento” per realizzare l’allestimento che soddisfa le loro esigenze pratiche ed estetiche.
Circa il 35% dei BBJ in servizio sono stati ordinati per alte cariche di Stato ed essi, in genere, sono allestiti per 25-50 passeggeri. Il BBJ del Governo Indiano sarà completato presso la PATS Aircraft, filiale della DeCrane Aircraft, nel Delaware. La PATS Aircraft realizzerà una cabina dotata di ufficio, sala riunioni, centro comunicazioni e poltroncine per 48 passeggeri. L’aereo è il primo dei tre esemplari ordinati, destinati a rimpiazzare i quattro B.737-200 dell’attuale flotta governativa indiana.

Boeing Business Jets today delivered its 100th "green" - unfurnished - airplane. Representatives of the government of India accepted the milestone airplane at the Boeing Delivery Center in Seattle.
"One hundred business jets delivered in 10 years is an amazing testament to the BBJ's wide market appeal and the great work of the Boeing team members who design, sell, build and support the B.737 executive versions," said Steven Hill, president of Boeing Business Jets.
The manufacturer delivers VIP airplanes in so-called "green" condition (the bare metal colour), meaning the airplane does not have interior furnishings or exterior paint. Customers then work with designers and interior completion centers to install an interior that exactly matches the owner's preferences and needs.
About 35 percent of BBJs ordered are for government heads of state and are typically designed to seat between 25 to 50 passengers. The Indian Government BBJ will be completed at PATS Aircraft completion center in Delaware, a wholly owned subsidiary of DeCrane Aircraft. PATS Aircraft will install an interior that includes a stateroom, meeting room, communications center and seating for 48 passengers. The jet is the first of three on order. The BBJs will replace the Indian government's existing fleet of four B.737-200s.
