China Southern Airlines, la maggiore compagnia aerea della Repubblica Popolare Cinese, ha preso oggi in consegna il suo primo B.737-800. Esso sarą seguito da altri 19 esemplari, tutti configurati per 8 passeggeri in prima classe e 159 in economica, ordinati nell'ottobre 2001. I nuovi bireattori sostituiranno altrettanti B.737 di versioni precedenti ed attualmente in linea con la China Southern. Dopo la consegna del suo nuovo B.747-400 cargo, avvenuta lo scorso giugno, China Southern prosegue il suo programma di rinnovamento del materiale di volo.
Il vettore cinese collega pił di 80 cittą in tutto il mondo. Tra i suoi principali scali turistici e d'affari in Cina ci sono Pechino, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Guilin, Hong Kong, Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzhen e Wuhan. I collegamenti internazionali comprendono Amsterdam, Bangkok, Fukuoka, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Los Angeles, Manila, Melbourne, Osaka, Penang, Phnom Penh, Seul, Singapore, Sydney e Tokyo.
La Boeing stima che, nell'arco dei prossimi vent'anni, la Cina diventerą il secondo mercato mondiale per gli aerei di linea, preceduta soltanto dagli USA. Durante lo stesso periodo, l'aumento del traffico aereo nel mercato interno cinese dovrebbe essere mediamente del 9% l'anno.

China Southern Airlines, the largest airline in The People's Republic of China, today took delivery of its first Boeing B.737-800. It will be followed by 19 more aircraft of this type, with a cabin configuration of eight first-class and 159 economy seats, ordered by the airline in October 2001. The 20 new jetliners will replace the same number of earlier generation B.737s currently operated by China Southern. With the June 2002 delivery of its new B.747-400 freighter, China Southern is making major steps to modernize its fleet.
The Chinese operator connects more than 80 cities around the globe. Major business and vacation destinations served in China include Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Guilin, Hong Kong, Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Wuhan. International service includes Amsterdam, Bangkok, Fukuoka, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Los Angeles, Manila, Melbourne, Osaka, Penang, Phnom Penh, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
Over the next 20 years, Boeing projects that China will be the world's second largest market for commercial jetliners, trailing only the United States. Domestic passenger traffic growth in China is expected to increase an average of 9.0 percent annually during the 20-year period.
