Power boosts 1998 Italian aerospace export

Italian civil aircraft export fairly increased during 1998 thanks to the sale performance of Agusta A 109E Power. During the past year the helicopter branch of the Finmeccanica group delivered twenty Powers to USA and various other countries, as well as other types of helicopters, both on the domestic and foreign markets.
In the meantime, Agusta and the British company Westland (GKN group), partners in the EH 101 programme, are about to form a full joint-venture, thus establishing the second largest European helicopter entity after Franco-German Eurocopter.
Agusta will bring in the leadership in the NH 90 programme, the production of the various A 109 variants, A 119 Koala, A 129 Mangusta and some other promising collaborative programmes with Bell Helicopter Textron (AB 139 and tilt-rotor BA 609); Westland contribution will comprise the Lynx and some programmes in collaboration with Boeing (WAH-64 Apache) and Sikorsky.
