Sichuan Airlines ha ricevuto il suo primo Airbus A 319, diventando un nuovo operatore del tipo. E' il primo dei quattro esemplari ordinati nel 2003 dalla compagnia basata a Chengdu; gli altri tre seguiranno tra il dicembre 2004 ed il 2005. Gli A 319 della Sichuan sono configurati per 132 passeggeri in due classi e sono spinti dai turbofan IAE V2500, particolarmente adatti ad operazioni da aeroporti in altura.
"Siamo lieti di mettere in linea nuovi e moderni aeroplani sui collegamenti per la valle dello Jiuzhai, Panzhihua, Lijiang ed altre località degli altopiani della Cina occidentale. In seguito introdurremo l'A 319 anche sulle rotte per Lhasa, nel Tibet," ha dichiarato Lan Xinguo, Presidente della Sichuan Airlines.
I rapporti tra la Airbus e la Sichuan Airlines risalgono ormai al 1995, quando il vettore fu il primo ad operare l'A 320 in Cina, introducendo così il pilotaggio fly-by-wire in questo paese. Attualmente la Sichuan utilizza già dieci A 320 e quattro A 321.
Intanto un altro vettore cinese, Hainan Airlines, diventa un nuovo cliente Airbus. Ha firmato oggi con il costruttore europeo un contratto per l'acquisto di otto A 319, per ottimizzare la composizione della propria flotta. Gli aerei appena ordinati saranno impiegati principalmente su tratte corte e medie che si dipartono da Pechino, Xi'an ed Haikou. La consegna di questi velivoli è programmata tra il 2005 ed il 2007. Fondata nel 1993, Hainan Airlines rappresenta il quarto maggiore gruppo di compagnie aeree in Cina, con più di 100 aeroplani impegnati su una rete di 500 voli domestici ed internazionali.
La presenza di Airbus in Cina si è costantemente accresciuta da quando, nel 1985, la società è entrata in questo mercato. La flotta di aerei Airbus nella Cina continentale, Hong Kong e Macao, che nel 1995 era di 29 esemplari, ha oggi superato il totale di 250 velivoli. Il modernissimo centro di supporto e addestramento di Pechino, che rappresenta per Airbus un investimento da 80 milioni di dollari, funziona a pieno ritmo. Cinque ditte aeronautiche del paese asiatico sono già inserite nel ciclo produttivo del costruttore europeo.

Sichuan Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A 319 aircraft, becoming a new customer for the type. The A 319 aircraft will seat up to 132 passengers in a two-class layout and are equipped by IAE V2500 engines to meet requirements of high-altitude operations. This is the first of the four A 319s ordered by the Chengdu-based carrier in 2003, and the remaining three will be delivered from December 2004 to 2005.
"We are pleased to deploy the modern aircraft on the routes linking with Jiuzhai Valley, Panzhihua, Lijiang and other high-altitude areas in west China: We will put the A 319s into operation at Lhasa, Tibet in the future," said Lan Xinguo, Chairman and President of Sichuan Airlines.
The relationship between Airbus and the Sichuan Airlines can be dated back to 1995, when the carrier became the first A 320 operator and first fly-by-wire operator in the Chinese mainland. Currently, it has a fleet of ten A 320s and four A 321s.
On the same day, Hainan Airlines has signed a contract with Airbus for eight A 319s for fleet optimization, becoming a new customer of Airbus. The aircraft will be mainly deployed on medium- and short-haul routes, with operational bases in Beijing, Xi'an and Haikou. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery from 2005 to 2007. Founded in 1993, Hainan Airlines is the fourth largest airline group in China, with more than 100 aircraft operating on over 500 domestic and regional routes.
Airbus's business in China has been steadily expanding since it first entered the country in 1985. The Airbus fleet in service in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao has grown to more than 250 today from just 29 in 1995. A world-class training and support centre, which represents a US$80 million investment by Airbus, is fully operational in Beijing. Five Chinese companies are already involved in producing parts for Airbus aircraft.
