La easyJet Airline ha ricevuto oggi il primo dei 120 A 319 ordinati alla fine del 2002. La compagnia low-fare britannica metterą in linea cinque A 319 entro la fine dell'anno, tutti operati dalla sussidiaria easyJet Switzerland basata a Ginevra. Entro il 2007, tutti gli altri esemplari saranno consegnati al vettore principale che opera dal Regno Unito. Gli A 319 della easyJet sono propulsi da turbofan CFM International CFM-56-5B5/P e sono configurati per 156 passeggeri in classe unica.
"Il modello commerciale della easyJet č basato su voli tra aeroporti locali vicini ai grandi centri e varie destinazioni di interesse turistico in Europa. L'A 319 ci consentirą di proseguire su questa linea per molti anni, facendo risparmiare tempo e denaro ai passeggeri", ha affermato Ray Webster, CEO della easyJet.
"Siamo lieti di consegnare alla easyJet il suo primo A 319. Come membro della rinomata famiglia dell'A 320, esso rappresenta la scelta giusta per easyJet e per le compagnie a tariffe basse. Low-fare carrier easyJet Airline received its first Airbus A 319 today. It is the first aircraft from a 120 unit order placed by the British carrier at the end of last year. easyJet will receive five A 319s this year, all of which will be based at Geneva and operated by its subsidiary easyJet Switzerland. The remaining aircraft will be delivered to the UK carrier by the end of 2007. All aircraft will be powered by CFM-56-5B5/P engines from CFM International. In easyJet's chosen configuration, the A 319 has 156 seats in a comfortable single-class layout.

(Editor's note: easyJet Airline began its activity in 1995 with a single-type fleet which eventually totalled 21 B.737-300s. On March 31, 2003, the 23 former GoFly B.737-300s were incorporated. At the moment easyJet is also receiving a total of 33 new built B.737-700s, ordered few years ago).
