Nell’ambito del programma d’ammodernamento della flotta a medio raggio, la compagnia nazionale russa Aeroflot ha firmato un contratto d’acquisto con Airbus per sette A 321. Questi aerei saranno consegnati dalla fine del 2006 in avanti.
Spinti da turbofan CFM International CFM56-5 engines, gli A 321 dell’Aeroflot disporranno di una cabina a doppia classe da 170 posti, 20 dei quali in business. La compagnia inserirà i nuovi aerei sulla propria rete di collegamenti interni e verso l’Europa.
Per l’Airbus, Aeroflot è stato il primo cliente ed operatore in Russia, con il primo A 310 entrato in servizio nel 1992. E’ stata anche la prima compagnia della Federazione Russa ad utilizzare sia l’A 319 che l’A 321. Attualmente l’Aeroflot, con una flotta che comprende anche otto A 319, sette A 320 e tre A 321, collega quasi 90 scali in tutto il mondo.

Aeroflot, the Russian flag carrier, has signed a contract with Airbus for the purchase of seven A 321 aircraft for its medium-haul fleet modernisation programme. Deliveries of the newly ordered aircraft are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2006.
Powered by CFM International CFM56-5 engines, Aeroflot’s A 321s will feature spacious and comfortable two-class cabin layouts seating 170 passengers including 20 seats in a fixed business class. The airline plans to operate these aircraft on its European and domestic networks.
Aeroflot was the first Airbus customer and operator in Russia, putting an A 310 in service in 1992. It was also the first airline in the CIS to operate the A 319 and A 321. Aeroflot currently operates a fleet including also eight A 319s, seven A 320s and three A 321s, and flies to almost 90 destinations worldwide.
