China Eastern Airlines ha preso in consegna il suo primo esemplare di A 330-300, diventando il primo utilizzatore di questo aereo nella Cina continentale. La capienza di questi aerei, spinti da turbofan Rolls-Royce Trent 700, è di 300 passeggeri su due classi, con 38 posti in business. La versione 300 dell’Airbus A 330 è entrata in servizio alla fine del 1993 e, con il suo raggio d’azione di 10.500 km (5.650 miglia nautiche), offre una notevole flessibilità operativa su una vasta gamma di rotte.
“I nostri nuovi A 330-300 sostituiranno gli A 300-600 che abbiamo attualmente in servizio, ha dichiarato Luo Chaogeng, Presidente di China Eastern Airlines Company Ltd. “Gli A 330-300 saranno inseriti principalmente sulle rotte a medio e lungo raggio verso gli altri paesi dell’Asia.”
China Eastern Airlines, primo cliente cinese per il costruttore europeo, ha una flotta che comprende oltre 100 Airbus di vario tipo: 75 della serie A 320, 18 A 300/A 310 e 10 A 340 in diverse versioni. La compagnia ha sede a Shanghai ed ha sviluppato una estesa rete di collegamenti verso l’Asia, l’Europa, l’Australia e l‘America con 450 scali tra nazionali ed internazionali.
Gli A 330 sono i bimotori Airbus a maggiore autonomia ed hanno già accumulato più di cinque milini di ore di volo con 70 operatori in tutto il mondo. A fine 2005, quattro compagnie aeree della Cina Continentale, Hong Kong e Macao utilizzano un totale di 43 aerei della famiglia A 330 e ne hanno altri 56 esemplari già ordinati ed in corso di consegna.

China Eastern Airlines has taken delivery of its first A 330-300 thus becoming the launch operator of the aircraft on the Chinese Mainland. The aircraft, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, will seat 300 passengers in a two-class layout with 38 seats in business class. The Airbus A 330-300 entered into service at the end of 1993 and has a range of up to 10,500 km (5,650 nm), giving it excellent flexibility for a wide range of route structures.
“These new A 330-300s will be used to replace the A 300-600 aircraft in our current fleet, said Luo Chaogeng, President of China Eastern Airlines Company Ltd. “We will put the A 330-300 mainly into operation on medium and long range routes, especially on new international routes in Asia.”
China Eastern Airlines, Airbus’ first customer in China, currently operates an Airbus fleet of over 100 aircraft, including 75 A 320 family aircraft, 18 A 300/310 family aircraft and 10 A 340 family aircraft. Headquartered in Shanghai, the carrier has set up an extensive network connecting Asia, Europe, Australia and America with air links to 450 domestic and international destinations.
The longest-range twin-engine Airbus aircraft in service, A 330 airliners have flown over five million hours with more than 70 customers and operators. By the end of 2005, four Chinese airlines on the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao have operated 43 A 330 family aircraft with a further 56 still on order.
