Un volo di linea Francoforte-Cairo-Karthum ha visto oggi l'entrata in servizio del primo Airbus A 330-300 della Lufthansa. L'A 330-300 è l'ennesimo modello Airbus che si aggiunge alla flotta del vettore tedesco. Lufthansa ne ha ordinati dieci, che saranno consegnati entro la fine del 2005. La compagnia introdurrà questi velivoli, spinti da due turbofan Rolls-Royce Trent 700, sulle rotte per il Medio riente, l'Africa e la costa atlantica degli Stati Uniti. Con 43 A 330 ed A 340 già in servizio, la Lufthansa dispone della più grande flotta mondiale di wide-body Airbus.
Per i nuovi A 330-300, la Lufthansa ha scelto una configurazione di cabina per 221 passeggeri su tre classi. Il vettore procede nell'introduzione della sua nuova business class con sedili "lie-flat" e sistemi individuali di intrattenimento a bordo, compreso un video a richiesta. Anche i passeggeri in classe economica, nei voli intercontinentali, hanno sedili più spaziosi di nuova concezione. La famiglia A 330/340 ha già ricevuto 820 ordini da parte di 60 operatori.

Today German airline Lufthansa started operating its first Airbus A 330-300 on a scheduled flight from Frankfurt to Cairo and Karthoum, Sudan. The A 330-300 is a new Airbus aircraft type in the carrier's fleet. Lufthansa has ordered ten aircraft of this type, all to be delivered by the end of 2005. The carrier will introduce the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 powered aircraft on its route network to the Middle East, Africa and the US East Coast. With 43 A 330s and A 340s currently in service, Lufthansa operates the world's largest fleet of Airbus wide-body aircraft.
With its new A 330-300s, Lufthansa offers a three class layout for 221 passengers. The carrier also continues to introduce its new business class product with new lie-flat seats and individual entertainment systems with video on demand. Economy class passengers also benefit from newly designed seats providing more leg room on intercontinental flights. The A 330/340 Family has booked some 820 orders from more than 60 customers to date.
