Royal Jordanian Airlines ha preso in consegna il primo di due Airbus A 340-200. I quadrireattori sono in leasing e per la compagnia rappresentano un nuovo importante passo nel suo programma di crescita e rinnovamento della flotta. Appena sarà disponibile anche il secondo esemplare, alla fine del mese, Royal Jordanian utilizzerà i propri A 340 per inaugurare il nuovo volo senza scalo per New York e su alcune rotte asiatiche.
Attualmente la Royal Jordanian utilizza una flotta composta quasi esclusivamente di aerei Airbus (A 300, A 310, A 321 ed ora anche A 340) ed offre una rete di servizi sia all'interno dell'area mediorientale che per l'Asia, l'Europa ed il Nord America. La Royal Jordanian fu la prima compagnia aerea del Medio Oriente, a metà degli anni '80, ad ordinare l'Airbus A 320.

Royal Jordanian Airlines took delivery today of the first of two leased Airbus A 340-200s, marking an important new step in its fleet growth and modernisation. Royal Jordanian will use its A 340s, after receipt of the second aircraft, which will be handed over later this month, to inaugurate nonstop services to North America, as well as on flights to Asia.
Royal Jordanian currently operates an almost all-Airbus passenger fleet (A 300, A 310, A 321 and A 340) on services to Asia, Europe, North America and throughout the Middle East. It became the first in the region to order the A 320, in the mid-1980s.
