Airbus ha consegnato il primo quadrireattore “ultra lungo raggio” A 340-600 in configurazione VIP alla Saad Air. La società saudita è il primo cliente per la versione “executive” dell’aereo di linea più lungo del mondo. L’Airbus A 340-600, spinto da turbofan Rolls-Royce Trent 500, sarà allestito con una sontuosa cabina da circa 80 posti. Saad Air è un affermato operatore di aerei d’affari che, tra l’altro, utilizza già un Airbus A 320 Prestige.
Airbus produce una notevole gamma di aerei per il mercato dei VIP, dal “piccolo” A 318 Elite, all’originale Airbus Corporate Jetliner ( derivato A 319), dall’A 320 Prestige alle versioni Prestige degli A 330 ed A 340, fino al mega-body A 380 Flying Palace. Le versioni executive degli A 340 ed A 380, avendo quattro motori, possono sorvolare le aree più remote del pianeta senza le limitazioni operative ETOPS dei bireattori.
La famiglia di Airbus in configurazione corporate è ottimamente posizionata sul mercato, con oltre 20 esemplari venduti nel 2007. Il totale delle vendite di A 318 Elite, ACJ ed A 320 Prestige ha raggiunto gli 80 aerei. Nel corso degli anni, un’altra quarantina di Airbus sono stati convertiti al trasporto VIP.

Airbus has delivered the first VIP version of its ultra long-haul A 340-600, the world’s longest airliner, to the private business group SAAD Air Ltd of Saudi Arabia, the first customer for the type. The Airbus A 340-600, which has yet to be outfitted with its VIP cabin, will seat around 80 passengers and is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 500 engines. Saad Air is an established corporate jet user which already operates an Airbus A 320 Prestige.
Airbus offers the most modern range of corporate jetliners, from the entry level A 318 Elite, through the A 319 derived Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ), A 320 Prestige and A 330/A 340 Prestige, all the way up to the A 380 Flying Palace. Four engines give the A 340 and A 380 the freedom to overfly remote areas - with no extended range twin-engine operations (ETOPS) limitations.
Airbus’ corporate jetliner family is enjoying widespread success in the market, with over 20 sales this year. Total sales of the A 318 Elite, ACJ and A 320 Prestige stand at around 80 aircraft, and there are a further 40 or so Airbus in corporate jet roles.
