Turkish Airlines ha firmato un contratto definitivo per l'acquisto di 36 aerei di linea Airbus, tra modelli a corridoio unico ed a fusoliera larga. Questa transazione rinnova la partnership tra il vettore nazionale turco ed Airbus, iniziata nel 1984, quando il bireattore A 310 divenne il primo Airbus utilizzato dalla Turkish Airlines.
A vent'anni di distanza, dopo l'intoduzione in servizio dell'A 340-300 nel 1993, Turkish Airlines ha deciso di utilizzare altri moderni rappresentanti della gamma Airbus, acquistando 19 A 320, 12 A 321 e cinque A 330-200, con consegne previste tra l'ottobre 2005 ed il 2008. Il vettore basato ad Istanbul, che opera una estesa rete di voli domestici ed internazionali, introdurrą i nuovi aeroplani sulle tratte interne e su quelle internazionali a medio e lungo raggio.
Turkish Airlines ha scelto i motori IAE V2527-A5 per gli A 320 e gli A 321 ed il General Electric CF6-80E1A3 per gli A 330. Per quanto riguarda la configurazione delle cabine, tutti i nuovi aerei avranno solo due classi, business ed economy.

Turkish Airlines has signed a firm contract for the purchase of 36 Airbus single aisle and wide body aircraft. This agreement renews the partnership between the Turkish National Carrier and Airbus that began in 1984, when the twin-engined A 310 became the first Airbus aircraft to be operated by the Istanbul-based airline.
Now, 20 years on, following the introduction of the A 340-300 in its fleet in 1993, Turkish Airlines opted to use the modern and efficient Airbus family products, by acquiring 19 A 320's, 12 A 321's and five A 330-200's, with deliveries scheduled as from October 2005 up till 2008. The airline, which operates many domestic and international flights, plans to use the aircraft on domestic, medium and long haul routes internationally.
Turkish Airlines has selected the IAE V2527-A5 engines for the A 320s and A 321s and the CF6-80E1A3 from General Electric for the A 330s. In terms of cabin configuration, the airline has chosen a 2-class configuration for all aircraft, offering business and economy classes.
