Air Dolomiti is Growing

Air Dolomiti was founded in 1989, with headquarters in Trieste (north-eastern Italy), to enter the domestic and international third-level market with a small fleet of twin turboprop DeHavilland DHC-8s. In 1993 this type of aircraft was replaced by the ATR 42 which now forms the standard equipment of the nine aircraf fleet. In the same period, Air Dolomiti signed a strong partnership agreement with Lufthansa.
In 1996 Air Dolomiti carried 290.000 passengers and obtained a net profit of about 50 million USD. A jet aircraft was close to be chosen by Air Dolomiti from a short-list formed by the Embraer 145 and the Canadair Regional Jet, but, during the 1997 Paris Air Show, an order was placed for one more ATR 42 and three ATR 72s. Perhaps this move places Air Dolomiti as a possible launch customer for the future AI(R) Airjet 70.
Recently, due to a co-marketing agreement, an Air Dolomiti's ATR 42 has been painted with the colours and logo of the Italian stylist Fendi.
