Positive 1996 Results for Air France
After six years, the 1996 balance of Air France reverted to a positive result, notwithstanding the problems arisen by the incorporation of the domestic carrier Air Inter. In the same year, Air France carried about 56 million passengers, being the top-scorer in Europe.
Recently the French national airline has put in service the new Airbus A 321, the lenghtened version of the smallest type in the Airbus airliner family.
In Europe, besides Air France, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Swissair and a number of charter airlines are operating more than fifty A 321s to date.
