America West Airlines ha confermato l'impegno preso con Airbus nel maggio scorso, firmando il contratto d'acquisto per dieci A 320 e sette A 319. La compagnia statunitense ha annunciato che noleggerà altri quattro aerei della famiglia A 320 da differenti società di leasing. Infine il vettore sta valutando se comperate o affittare un ulteriore aereo della famiglia A 320, portando a 22 il totale dei velivoli oggetto dell'attuale transazione.
Le consegne degli aerei comperati direttamente dal costruttore inizieranno alla fine del 2005 e proseguiranno fino al 2006. Su tutti i nuovi Airbus ordinati dalla America West saranno installati i turbofan della serie IAE V2500. Gli A 320 saranno configurati per 12 passeggeri in prima classe e 138 in economica, mentre gli A 319 avranno anch'essi 12 posti in prima e 112 nella cabina principale.
La America West ricevette il primo A 320 nel 1991 e mise in linea il primo A 319 nel 1998. Attualmente la flotta Airbus della compagnia comprende 32 A 319 e 53 A 320.

America West Airlines has placed a new order for ten A 320s and seven A 319s. This firms up a commitment announced by the airline in May 2004. America West will lease an additional four A 320 Family aircraft from various lessors. One more A 320 Family aircraft will be either purchased or leased - a decision by the airline is pending - bringing the total transaction to 22 aircraft.
Deliveries of the purchased aircraft will begin in late 2005 and will run through 2006. IAE V2500 turbofans will power all the America West A 320 Family aircraft. Each of the 320s will accommodate 12 passengers in first class and 138 in economy. The airline's A 319s will also seat 12 in first class, plus 112 in the main cabin.
America West took delivery of its first A 320 in 1991 and introduced the A 319 in 1998. The airline's Airbus fleet currently stands at 32 A 319s and 53 A 320s.
