Eurofly/Air Europe merger?

In the struggle to restructure the Alitalia group, talks have been undertaken, mid 1996, to try a merger of the charter subsidiary Eurofly with Air Europe, the other leading Italian charter airline, specialized in the long range market.
Eurofly began operations on 26 May 1989, with a medium range fleet that now comprise two DC-9-51s and three MD-83s, obtaining fairly good financial results and productivity rates.
The capital of Eurofly is 40% Alitalia, 40% Olivetti and 10% San Paolo Finance. Alitalia has also a 27% share in Air Europe.
