Finmeccanica e Sukhoi Aviation Holding, e le loro controllate Alenia Aeronautica e Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC), hanno firmato l’accordo che da il via alla partnership strategica sul programma Russian Regional Jet, RRJ. Il programma RRJ prevede la progettazione, lo sviluppo, la produzione, il marketing ed il supporto tecnico di una famiglia di jet regionali di nuova generazione, di capacità tra i 75 ed i 100 posti.
In base all’accordo, Alenia Aeronautica acquisirà una quota del 25% più un’azione di SCAC (operazione soggetta ad approvazione governativa russa) ed una corrispondente partecipazione finanziaria alla fase di sviluppo del programma RRJ. Il programma di cooperazione tra le due aziende è il risultato di un processo iniziato nell’agosto del 2005 quando venne firmato a Mosca, nel corso del salone aeronautico MAKS 2005, il Memorandum of Understanding da parte dell’Agenzia Federale Russa per l’Industria, di Sukhoi Aviation Holding Co., di Finmeccanica e di Alenia Aeronautica.
Per favorire le prospettive degli RRJ sui mercati internazionali, i soci costituiranno inoltre una joint-venture, basata in Europa, con il compito di curare gli aspetti legati alle vendite ed al supporto tecnico per i nuovi aerei. Inoltre Alenia Aeronautica parteciperà allo sviluppo del progetto RRJ con un proprio team di tecnici che lavoreranno in Russia; realizzerà componenti in materiali avanzati e sistemi; curerà la certificazione degli aerei in base agli standard europei e gestirà attività quali gli acquisti, le vendite ed il supporto tecnico presso le compagnie aeree.
L’accordo è un passo importante nella realizzazione di una partnership strategica a lungo termine tra le due aziende e costituisce la più ampia collaborazione industriale mai intrapresa, tra Italia e Russia, in campo aeronautico.

Finmeccanica and Sukhoi Aviation Holding, and their respective subsidiaries Alenia Aeronautica and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC), have signed an agreement establishing a strategic partnership on the Russian Regional Jet (RRJ) programme. The RRJ programme involves the design, development, production and marketing of a family of new generation regional jets with 75-100 seats, as well as technical support.
Under the agreement, Alenia Aeronautica will acquire a 25% stake plus one share in SCAC (subject to Russian government approval) and a corresponding financial stake in the development of the RRJ programme. The programme of co-operation between the two companies is the result of a process begun in August 2005 when a memorandum of understanding was signed by the Russian federal agency for industry, Sukhoi Aviation Holding Co, Finmeccanica and Alenia Aeronautica, at the MAKS 2005 air show in Moscow.
With the aim of furthering the prospects of the RRJ on the international markets, the programme partners will set up a joint-venture based in Europe, to look after the legal aspects of sales and technical support for the new aircraft. In addition, Alenia Aeronautica will contribute to the development of the RRJ programme through its own team of technical experts based in Russia. The company will also produce advanced material components and systems, will handle the certification of aircraft under European standards and will manage aspects such as purchasing, sales and technical support for airlines.
The agreement represents both an important step in the establishment of a long-term strategic partnership between the two companies and the most significant industrial programme involving Italy and Russia in the aviation sector.
