Ambri Air Show 1996

The fourth yearly edition of the Swiss air show was held on August 24th and 25th, organized by the Ambri based Vola Ticino Association.
Moreover the bad weather, ICAO rules has dictated a reduction of the useful runway length to 1,339 metres, discuraging the participation of some "heavies".
In Switzerland, during the same days, two other air shows were organized at Bex and at Mollis, thus reducing the visiting aircraft and those apt for static and flying exhibition.
Notwithstanding these snags, Vola Ticino was able to assemble a first quality flight line, mainly formed by warbirds, military aircraft, both fixed wings and helicopters.
Vola Ticino will take breath in 1997, the next Ambri Air Show being planned for August 22/23 1998.
Next year the Swiss air show panorama will be highlighted by the rebirth of the Sion Air Show (June 6-7-8 1997), very popular in the seventies and eighties.

The new helicopter, a single-seater, is completely dedicated to lift slung loads for a maximum hook weight of 2,721 kg. The aircraft resurrects the classic Kaman feature of intermeshing two-blade contrarotating rotors.
