Da quando, nel 2005, AgustaWestland ha consegnato il primo A 109E Power al governo della Provincia del Rajasthan, il costruttore italo-inglese ha registrato un costante aumento di vendite dei suoi elicotteri civili in India. Nel 2006 sono state consegnate complessivamente sette macchine ed almeno altre quattro seguiranno nel 2007, compreso il primo esemplare di A 109S Grand ed un AW 139. Questi buoni risultati di vendite stanno facendo di AgustaWestland uno dei principali fornitori di elicotteri civili per il mercato indiano che è in fase di netta espansione. Nel periodo 2008-2009 è prevista la consegna di non meno di 12 elicotteri a clienti indiani.
Le consegne 2006 in India hanno compreso quattro monomotori A 119 Koala (due all’OSS Air e due ad AR Aviation/Viraj Steel Group), due bimotori leggeri A 109E Power, rispettivamente alle Jaypee Industries ed al governo della Provincia di Jammu-Kashmir, oltre ad un Power usato.
Attualmente la Sharp Ocean di Hong Kong è il distributore AgustaWestland per India, Sri Lanka e Maldive. Recentemente Sharp Ocean ha designato l’indiana OSS Air come centro locale di assistenza per gli elicotteri civili AgustaWestland e come coordinatore per le attività di promozione e vendita in India.
OSS Air dispone di infrastrutture manutentive e personale qualificato presso la propria base principale sull’aeroporto di Mumbai/Juhu e quella distaccata di Delhi/Indira Gandhi International. La OSS Air è già autorizzata da AgustaWestland all’assistenza tecnica per alcuni tipi di elicottero. Dispone anche di un officina a Jaipur, per supportare l’A 109E usato dal governo del Rajasthan, ed a Ranchi per l’A 109E del governo del Jharkhand.

Since the first AgustaWestland helicopter, an A 109E Power, was delivered to the Government of Rajasthan in 2005, the manufacturer has seen sales of it modern range of commercial helicopters take-off in India. In 2006 a total of seven helicopters were delivered and at least four more will be delivered in 2007, including the first examples of the A 109S Grand and AW 139. This continued success is establishing AgustaWestland as a leading supplier of civil helicopters to the growing Indian market and it is forecasting it will deliver at least another 12 helicopters to customers in India during 2008-2009.
In 2006, deliveries in India comprised four A 119 Koala single engine helicopters with two each for OSS Air and AR Aviation/Viraj Steel Group, two A 109E Power light twin helicopters to Jaypee Industries and the Jammu & Kashmir Government and finally a pre-owned Power.
AgustaWestland has entered into a Distributorship Agreement with Sharp Ocean of Hong Kong for the region of India, Sri Lanka and The Maldives. Now OSS Air, an Indian company, as well as being an appointed Service Centre for AgustaWestland commercial helicopters has also been designated by Sharp Ocean as their co-ordinators for all sales and marketing activities in India.
OSS Air has an established maintenance facility with a full complement of engineers and technicians at their Mumbai (Juhu airport) main base and also at their Delhi (Indira Gandhi International airport) base. In addition, they have two further bases at Jaipur and Ranchi for maintaining the A 109E Power helicopters being used by the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Jharkhand, respectively. OSS Air has been authorised by AgustaWestland to conduct servicing and overhaul activities for the range of AgustaWestland civil helicopters.
