AgustaWestland si è aggiudicata un contratto della Marina Indiana per la rimessa in efficienza di sette elicotteri Sea King Mk 42B. L’attività comincerà subito e sarà coordinata da un team specializzato AgustaWestland che affiancherà il personale della Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
L’azienda indiana effettuerà il controllo e la revisione di tutte le parti “rotanti”, come i sistemi di trasmissione e le teste dei rotori. Nel marzo 2004 AgustaWestland ed HAL avevano siglato un accordo di collaborazione per consentire riparazioni e revisioni in loco dei Sea King, in particolare quelli utilizzati dalla Marina Indiana.
Questo contratto non potrà che favorire la crescente collaborazione tra AgustaWestland e l’industria aerospaziale indiana, oltre a generare ulteriore attività per le officine di manutenzione e revisione della HAL impegnate sui Sea King. La Marina Indiana ha ricevuto un buon numero di elicotteri Sea King, comprese le versioni avanzate Mk 42B e Mk 42C che furono consegnate verso la fine degli anni ’80.

AgustaWestland has been awarded a contract by the Indian Navy to return to service seven Sea King Mk 42B helicopters. Work on the contract will commence immediately with AgustaWestland providing a specialist team that will work with personnel from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The Indian company will undertake the repair and overhaul of "rotable" items including the transmission and rotor heads in support of this contract. In March 2004 AgustaWestland signed a contract with HAL to enable it to perform indigenous Sea King repair and overhaul work in support of the Indian Navy Sea King fleet.
This contract will aid AgustaWestland to further develop its business links with the Indian aerospace industry and will result in additional work for HAL's Sea King repair and overhaul facility. The Indian Navy has received a substantial number of Sea King helicopters including advanced Mk 42B and Mk 42C variants which were delivered in the late 1980’s.
