Alitalia Team starts

On 1st November 1996, Avianova, the Alitalia group subsidiary, was renamed Alitalia Team and became the low cost carrier of the group.
The Alitalia Team's fleet is formed by the ex Avianova aircraft, nine ATR-42s, four ATR-72 and five Fokker 70, supplemented by seven MD-82s, one B.767 and fourteen Airbus A321s previously operated by the parent airline.
By April 1997, three more MD-82s, five more B.767s and all the remaining A321s will be transferred. The cabin staff, at the contrary of the pilots, has a basicly new contract.
It is foreseeable that all flight operations will be progressively moved to Alitalia Team, if the regional services will not be put aside.
In the same period, Alitalia decided to sell all its Airbus A300 fleet.
