Un Boeing Next-Generation B.737-800 è appena stato consegnato alla Air Astana, una compagnia aerea del Kazakistan creata congiuntamente, lo scorso anno, dal governo locale e dalla società britannica BAE Systems.
L'aeroplano, terzo B.737 consegnato alla compagnia, è il primo esemplare di B.737-800 ad entrare in servizio nella Confederazione di Stati Indipendenti. Air Astana ha già ricevuto due B.737-700 nel corso del mese di maggio. Tutti e tre gli aerei sono affittati dalla International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC).
Il B.737-800 della Air Astana è configurato per 156 passeggeri ed i due B.737-700 per 114, sempre su due classi. La compagnia kazaka li utilizzerà sulle rotte nazionali da Astana ad Almaty, Aktau, Aktobe, Atyrau ed anche per voli a Mosca e verso altre destinazioni che verranno decise in futuro.
(Ndr - Nel 1998 la capitale del Kazakistan è stata trasferita da Alma-Ata alla città di Akmola, ribattezzata per l'occasione Astana, che significa appunto "capitale").

A Boeing Next-Generation B.737-800 was delivered this week to Air Astana, a Kazakhstan airline formed last year and owned jointly by the government of Kazakhstan and BAE Systems of the United Kingdom.
The airplane, the third 737 delivered to the airline, is the first Next-Generation 737-800 to operate in the Commonwealth of Independent States. Air Astana received two B.737-700s that were delivered last month. All three airplanes are leased from International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC).
The Air Astana 737-800, seats 156 passengers, and the two 737-700s accommodate 114 passengers in a two-class configuration. The Kazakhstan airline will use its new aircaft on domestic routes from Astana to Almaty, Aktau, Aktobe, Atyrau and the Uralsk, and also on flights to Moscow as well as other destinations to be announced in the future.
