Boeing e Japan Airlines (JAL) hanno festeggiato oggi la prima consegna alla compagnia nipponica di un Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range), l'ultimo modello della diffusa famiglia di bireattori di linea B.777. Si tratta del 28° B.777 consegnato alla JAL e primo degli otto B.777-300ER che il vettore, cliente di lancio del tipo, metterà in linea entro il 2008.
Il B.777-300ER è il primo di due nuovi modelli a grandissima autonomia del B.777. Venne lanciato insieme al B.777-200LR (Longer Range), nel febbraio 2000, su stimolo degli operatori che chiedevano maggiore flessibilità operativa per nuove rotte senza scalo. Il B.777-300ER può trasportare 365 passeggeri su tratte di 7.705 miglia nautiche (14.270 chilometri), ed è in grado di effettuare collegamenti diretti come New York-Tokyo e Tokyo-Londra. Boeing ha ricevuto ordini per 71 B.777-300ER da parte di sette clienti. L'Air France ha ricevuto il primo esemplare di serie lo scorso aprile.
La progettazione del B.777-200LR - l'aereo di linea che avrà il massimo raggio d'azione - è completa all'80%. Il primo esemplare dovrebbe essere messo in produzione ad ottobre e consegnato all'inizio del 2006.

Boeing and Japan Airlines (JAL) today celebrated delivery of the airline's first Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) airplane, the newest member of the twin-engine B.777 commercial airplane family. The airplane is the 28th B.777 delivered to JAL and the first of eight B.777-300ERs that the airline, a launch customer for the model, will receive through 2008.
The B.777-300ER is the first of two new Longer-Range B.777 models. It and the B.777-200LR (Longer Range) were launched in February 2000 at the request of airlines seeking additional flexibility to serve non-stop routes thatmarket demands. The B.777-300ER carries 365 passengers up to 7,705 nautical miles (14,270 kilometers), and is capable of serving such routes as New York-Tokyo and Tokyo-London. Boeing has received orders for 71 B.777-300ERs from seven customers. Air France received the first aircraft of this type in April.
The design of the B.777-200LR -- the world's longest range jetliner -- is more than 80 percent complete. The first aircraft is scheduled to enter production in October and be delivered during the first quarter of 2006.
