28th CAP Air Meeting at Carpi

The 28th edition of the CAP air meeting was held on 16th and 17th September, at the Carpi airport near Modena. CAP (Club Aviazione Popolare), was established in1970 thanks to the efforts of late Prof. Rotondi, as the Italian chapter of Experimental Aircraft Association
The meeting, which enjoyed very fine weather conditions, is definitely one of the leading events in the Italian light aviation scene.
CAP confirmed its vitality in gathering at Carpi more than 20 home-built aircraft. Few of them were new-built but their craftsmanship was outstanding. Following a well established tradition, the CAP technical commission awarded the participating aircraft with dedicated prizes:

Other prizes, presented by various organizations, were also awarded to home-built aircraft realized in the previous years, some of them being true veterans of the Italian amateur-aeroplane scene:
Mr. Pietro Marchi Lancair 320 I-MAPY, Asso IV I-STRF built by Mr. Marco Corridori, Rand Robinson KR-2S I-FORA belonging to Mr. Guglielmo Forasassi, Mr. Giordano Baricchi diminutive Brügger MB-2 Colibri I-CAPS, Rutan Long-Ez I-BKAK and I-KARL owned respectively by Mr. Roberto Carluccio and Mr. Carlo Chignoli, Pitts S-1T I-PITT biplane built by Giorgio Marangoni and Cosy Classic canard LX-ACE by Uli Wolter.
For the first time, CAP awarded trophies for a virtual flight contest and a flying kit demonstration held during the meeting.
As usual, in occasion of the 2000 CAP meeting, the major Italian ultralight manufacturers, of aircraft structures and accessories, participated to a very active VLA fair (see VLA EXHIBITION AT CARPI): During the two days of the show, about two hundred aircraft (home-builts, VLA and visiting aircraft) participated to the Carpi fly-in.
