Turin/Caselle airport - 1998 traffic data

In occasion of the ACI Europe congress held in Turin on 13 and 14 April, SAGAT, the Turin/Caselle airport management agency, released the passenger traffic data for 1998.
The past year passengers totalled 2.4 million, +3% in respect of 1997. This good result was boosted by the increase of routes and capacity of the international services, mainly operated by foreign carriers; domestic traffic suffered a decrease of -1.8%.
Four hundred weekly flights are operated to and from Turin by 15 airlines. The scheduled passengers flights are 353, this number comprising 225 international and 128 domestic services.
From March 1999, Swissair increased capacity on its Turin-Zurich service (four flights a day), replacing Crossair Saab 2000s with Debonair Bae 146s. From July this year, Ryanair will introduce a twice a day Turin-London/Stansted low-fare air service.
In the last five years the passengers using Turin/Caselle airport increased by 51.1%.
