EADS Defence & Security, una delle maggiori società specializzate in prodotti per la difesa e la sicurezza militare e civile, ha annunciato di aver cambiato nome in Cassidian. L'annuncio è stato fatto congiuntamente dalla capogruppo EADS e da Stefan Zoller, capo azienda di Cassidian.
La Cassidian continua ad essere una divisione dell'EADS, proponendosi di commercializzare in modo più efficace la vasta gamma di sistemi per la sicurezza, grazie ad un proprio profilo indipendente sul mercato mondiale. “Il settore è in fase di cambiamento, così come i nostri clienti. Soprattutto nel settore della sicurezza civile, dove offriamo numerosi prodotti, è essenziale essere percepiti come un marchio forte,” ha dichiarato Stefan Zoller.
“Il nuovo nome Cassidian deriva dai termini latino "cassida" (elmo) e "meridian" (la linea immaginaria che va da nord a sud). Esso vuole simbolizzare la protezione e la sicurezza del mondo, riflettendo il motto stesso della Cassidian – Difendere la sicurezza del mondo,” ha dichiarato Annette Füllenbach, responsabile comunicazioni della Cassidian.
Insieme al nome, Cassidian ha anche introdotto un nuovo marchio. Il globo terrestre circondato da mani protettive simboleggia l’impegno della nuova società per supportare chi vuole preservare la pace.
Le varie divisioni hanno anch’esse ricevuto un nuovo nome, riferito alle loro specifiche attività: Cassidian Electronics, Cassidian Air Systems e Cassidian Systems. La società inizierà ad adottare il nuovo nome immediatamente. Per adesso le sussidiarie manterranno la loro attuale denominazioe, adottando comunque il nuovo marchio.
Nel 2009, le società che formano oggi la Cassidian – con circa 21.000 addetti – hanno generato un fatturato di 5,4 miliardi di Euro. Nello stesso anno, la capofila EADS – una delle maggiori multinazionali nel campo dell’aerospazio e della difesa – ha avuto un giro d’affari di 42,8 miliardi di Euro, con una forza lavoro di circa 119.000 persone.

EADS Defence & Security, a world leader in global security solutions and systems for civil and military markets, today announced its official name change to Cassidian. The announcement was made by EADS and by Cassidian CEO Dr. Stefan Zoller.
Cassidian remains a division of EADS and will be able to market its large portfolio of security systems more effectively by establishing a clear-cut profile in the international market place. “Our business is changing. So are our customers. Especially on the civil markets which we address with our security products, it is essential to be perceived as a strong brand,” says Dr. Stefan Zoller.
“The new name Cassidian comes from the Latin terms "cassida" (helmet) and "meridian" (imaginary line running north and south). It symbolises worldwide protection and security, thus reflecting the Cassidian claim – Defending World Security,” says Annette Füllenbach, Head of Cassidian Communications.
Together with the name, Cassidian has also introduced a new logo. The globe with hands surrounding and protecting it symbolises the company's commitment to support those whose mission is to protect the world.
The Business Units have also received new names which highlight the core of their activities: Cassidian Electronics, Cassidian Air Systems and Cassidian Systems. The company will begin to use the new name and logo immediately. Its subsidiaries will retain their present names for the time being, but will immediately adopt the new logo.
In 2009, the companies now forming Cassidian – with around 21,000 employees – achieved revenues of € 5.4 billion. EADS is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. In the same year, EADS generated revenues of € 42.8 billion and employed a workforce of about 119,000.
