Cathay Pacific with FANS
By the year's end, Cathay Pacific plans to use, on its trans-Pacific routes, the Future-Air-Navigation-System (FANS-1), installed on board 18 of its 21 Boeing 747-400s, comprising two freighter aircraft.
FANS includes a satellite-communications equipment, a dual global positioning system and an airborne-communications addressing and reporting system.
FANS is optimized to be used on a first CNS/ATM route to be opended soon across the northern Pacific.
