La Cessna Aircraft Company ha annunciato la costruzione di un nuovo Citation Service Center a Wichita, Kansas. L'infrastruttura manutentiva da 60 milioni di dollari, che sarà grande il doppio di quella attualmente esistente, darà lavoro ad oltre 500 persone in più. Il Service Center ospiterà una serie di piazzole di servizio, officine per revisione e manutenzione, centro affari ed uffici.
"Con il continuo aumento di Citation in attività, questo nuovo Service Center è necessario per venire incontro alle esigenze della clientela" ha affermato Ron Chapman, senior vice president del Servizio clienti. "Si prevede che, non appena ultimata, la struttura sarà aperta 24 ore al giorno, sette giorni alla settimana verrà immediatamente utilizzata al 70% della sua capacità (75/80 aerei assistiti ogni giorno), offrendo il massimo della flessibilità operativa."
La costruzione dell'edificio, che ha una superficie di oltre 40.000 metri quadri, richiederà 18-20 mesi di lavoro a partire da oggi. All'inizio del 2004, l'attuale Wichita Citation Service Center sarà riconvertito come officina di allestimento finale del nuovo Citation Sovereign. I centri di assistenza Citation gestiti dalla Cessna, nove negli USA, uno a Parigi ed uno a Sydney, sono in grado di soddisfare tutte le esigenze di ispezione, manutenzione e revisione dei vari modelli della gamma Citation, dal tipo base al Citation X.

Cessna Aircraft Company approved plans to construct a new Citation Service Center in Wichita, Kansas. Upon completion of the new $60 million facility, Cessna will employ an additional 500-600 individuals. The Service Center will double the size of the current building and will house multiple aircraft service bays, numerous component repair and overhaul shops, customers business center and office space.
"With the continued growth of the Citation fleet, this new Service Center is necessary to anticipate an even higher level of customer expectations," said Ron Chapman, Senior Vice President, Customer Service.
"It is projected that upon completion, we will immediately utilize 70% of the facility's capacity to service 75 to 80 aircraft a day, while providing our customers improved maintenance scheduling flexibility. "Construction of the 443,000 square foot building will take approximately 18-20 months and is expected to begin this year. The facility will be completed in 2003. It will be located on a 150-acre site leased to Cessna by the Wichita Airport Authority. Once completed, the current Wichita Citation Service Center will be utilized as an aircraft completion center for the new Citation Sovereign beginning in 2004.
"The new Wichita Citation Service Center will operate on the same schedule as the existing facility, which provides customers with service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are working closely with the State of Kansas, Sedgwick County, City of Wichita, Unified School District #259, and area technical colleges to begin recruiting individuals with the needed skill-set to help staff this Service Center, as we anticipate the need to double that work force during the first five years of operations," said Chapman.
Cessna's Citation Service Centers are state-of-the-art, fully equipped facilities capable of meeting all inspection, maintenance and service requirements for the Citation fleet from the original Citation through the Citation X.
