Aero-News Network ha premiato la Diamond Aircraft "per il grande merito di aver costruito un aereo profondamente innovativo, ed allo stesso tempo maturo per il mercato", nominando il DA 42 Twin Star l’Aereo dell’Anno 2006, nella categoria “Bimotori per l’Aviazione Generale”.
Nel numero del 21 febbraio di Aero-News si legge "Nessun altro aereo presenta così tante innovazioni in ogni aspetto tecnologico (struttura, propulsione e strumentazione) come il Diamond DA 42 Twin Star. Esso è ancora oggi il velivolo più moderno presente sul mercato dell’aviazione generale".
Il DA 42 Twin Star, che offre la sicurezza del bimotore con il prezzo, il costo d’esercizio e la facilità di pilotaggio di un monomotore, è anche stato nominato Aereo dell’Anno 2006 dalla rivista Aviation Consumer, ed ha conseguito il “2006 Editor’s Choice Award” dalla prestigiosa rivista Flying. In precedenza, il Twin Star aveva anche vinto il premio “Best of the Best” del Robb Report, ed era entrato nella classifica “Top 100 Technology Innovation Award”, stilata ogni anno dal mensile Popular Science.

Aero-News Network congratulated Diamond Aircraft "for a magnificent effort and for producing an aggressively innovative, yet solid, product", naming the Diamond DA 42 Twin Star as 2006 Airplane of the Year in the General Aviation Piston Twin category.
The February 21 issue of Aero-News states "No airframe represents as much real progress in every aspect of aviation technology (airframe, powerplant and avionics) as does the Diamond DA 42 Twin Star. It remains the single most innovative aircraft currently offered to General Aviation".
The DA 42 Twin Star, which offers twin engine safety with the ease of operation, and acquisition and operating costs of high performance singles, has also been named 2006 Airplane of the Year by Aviation Consumer magazine, and received the 2006 Editor’s Choice Award from Flying magazine. Previously the Twin Star received Robb Report’s Best of the Best award, and Popular Science magazine’s Top 100 Technology Innovation award.
