Delta opens new Atlanta-Milan service

On April 2 Delta Airlines started a new B.767 daily connection between Atlanta and Milan/Malpensa, operated in collaboration with Alitalia, a partner of Delta in the SkyTeam alliance. This is also a very positive event for the Italian airport, which suffered a dramatic traffic decline in the past months. Alitalia, the main Milan/Malpensa carrier, cancelled destinations and reduced frequencies for a total of 200 legs. Also under the expectations is the long-range situation, after the cancellation of connections to Hong Kong, Peking, San Francisco and New York, and the departure of other carriers like Northwest, before the 11 September attacks, and American Airlines more recently.
