L’olandese Fokker Aircraft Services (FAS) segnala che il 1111° caccia multiruolo F-16 è giunto nelle proprie officine di manutenzione. Si tratta di un esemplare appartenente alla Royal Norwegian Air Force che sarà sottoposto ad una delle normali ispezioni previste ogni 300 ore di volo.
Quasi 30 anni fa, il primo Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon, in forza alle Reali Forze Aeree Olandesi, giunse alla Fokker per ricevere vari aggiornamenti e migliorie strutturali. Da allora l’attività di manutenzione e revisione degli F-16 da parte della Fokker è prograssivamente aumentata, anche per conto delle Reali Forze Aeree Danesi, dell’United States Air Forces in Europe, della Forza Aerea Portoghese e della Forza Aerea del Cile, oltre che delle aeronautiche militari norvegesi ed olandesi.
“Oltre agli F-16, abbiamo una lunga tradizione nel campo del supporto e della conversione di aerei commerciali e militari. Abbiamo lavorato sul primo caccia F-16 nel settembre 1981 e, già nel 1985, il costruttore Lockheed Martin aveva riconosciuto le nostre capacità tecniche di intervento sugli F-16,” spiega Stephan Hands, Vice President Marketing and Sales della Fokker Aircraft Services. “I tecnici della Fokker Aircraft Services, molti dei quali sono veri appassionati d’aviazione, sono orgogliosi di lavorare su questo aereo straordinario e di far parte della storia dell’F-16.”
La Fokker Aircraft Services ha contribuito a vari cicli di aggiornamento e modifica degli F-16 succedutisi negli anni, compresi i programmi Falcon UP, Midlife Update e Falcon Star, oltre alla riparazione di cricche alari e di altri danni subiti occasionalmente durante l’attività operativa. Dopo il 1111° F-16, la FAS è in attesa di revisionare il 1112° ed il 1113° caccia americano. Il primo, un altro esemplare della Royal Norwegian Air Force, verrà anch’esso sottoposto all’ispezione delle 300 ore, mentre l’altro - della Royal Netherlands Air Force – riceverà il trattamento anticorrosione e la riverniciatura completa.
Oltre all’attività sopra descritta , la FAS fornisce anche personale di assistenza presso le basi ed ispezioni periodiche di linea, eventualmente integrate da modifiche programmate, in modo da ridurre al minimo il “fermo macchina”.

Fokker Aircraft Services (FAS) of the Netherlands is celebrating the 1111th F-16 multirole fighter jet to undergo maintenance at its facility. The aircraft belongs to the Royal Norwegian Air Force and arrived at Fokker Aircraft Services’ hangars this November, where it will undergo a 300 Flight/Hours Phase Inspection.
The first Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon arrived at Fokker nearly 30 years ago from the Royal Netherlands Air Force. Its multifaceted modification work encompassed both modernization and structural improvements. Since then, Fokker’s servicing of F-16s has steadily progressed with work conducted on behalf of the Royal Danish Air Force, United States Air Forces in Europe, Portuguese Air Force and Chilean Air Force, in addition to the air forces of Norway and the Netherlands.
“We have an extensive history of supporting and converting both commercial and military aircraft, and in particular the F-16. We received our first F-16 fighter jet in September of 1981, and by the end of 1985, Lockheed Martin had publicly recognized our company as the best F-16 modifier in the world,” explains Stephan Hands, Vice President Marketing and Sales, Fokker Aircraft Services. “The many engineers/aircraft enthusiasts within Fokker Aircraft Services are incredibly proud of being able to service this powerful bird and of being a part of F-16 history.”
Fokker Aircraft Services has been involved in F-16 modification programmes including Falcon UP, Midlife Update and Falcon Star, as well as Wing Crack Repair and Damage Repair. In addition to the 1111th F-16, FAS is expecting to soon begin work on numbers 1112 and 1113. The first, which also belongs to the Royal Norwegian Air Force, will likewise undergo a 300 F/H Phase Inspection, while the other for the Royal Netherlands Air Force is scheduled for Paint and Anti Corrosion.
Alongside the services outlined above, FAS also provides Field Support Teams, standalone Phase Inspections and the integration of Phase Inspections in modification programs to condense aircraft downtime.
