Caledonian+Flying Colours=JMC Airlines

Two UK charter airlines, Caledonian Airways and Flying Colours, are going to fully merge their respective activities by March next year, under the new banner JMC Airlines. The move is a consequence of the take-over by the Flying Colours parent company tour operator Thomas Cook of the Caledonian Airways owner Carlson Leisure.

From summer 2000, the JMC combined fleet will comprise twenty-eight aircraft: two DC-10-30s, sixteen B.757-200s and ten A 320s, resulting as the second largest in UK charter market, after Britannia Airways. In the meantime, Caledonian Airways has retired its eight TriStars; five of them were wet-leased from Air Atlanta Icelandic, mainly for sub-charter activity.
