Per iniziare i propri servizi tra le principali città dell'India, la nuova compagnia low-fare Kingfisher Airlines ha scelto la famiglia di aerei basata sull'Airbus A 320. Il vettore ha firmato un accordo che porterà all'acquisto di quattro A 320 dalla ditta costruttrice, più opzioni per altri otto esemplari. Sono anche in corso trattative con le principali società di leasing per il noleggio di altri quattro aerei dello stesso tipo.
Le consegne degli aeroplani noleggiati inizieranno nei primi mesi del 2005, mentre quelle degli esemplari nuovi di fabbrica, direttamente da parte dell'Airbus, prenderanno il via verso la fine del 2005. Tutti i velivoli saranno allestiti con una cabina in sola classe economica da 180 posti. La scelta sul tipo di motori non è ancora stata fatta.

Kingfisher Airlines, India's new value-based carrier, has chosen Airbus' A 320 family to inaugurate services among major Indian cities. It has signed a memorandum of understanding for the acquisition of four Airbus A 320s from the manufacturer, and taken options on eight more. In addition, it is in negotiation with leasing companies for the lease of a further four A 320s.
Deliveries of the leased aircraft will begin in the first quarter of 2005, while those of the new aircraft from Airbus will start in the last quarter of 2005. All of the aircraft will seat 180 passengers in an all-economy layout. The choice of engines has yet to be made.
