(Aeromedia)
Bombardier 415 I-DPCU "14", operated by SOREM, lands at Turin/Caselle airport (1999). The original, piston-engined, Canadair model CL-215-1A10 flew for the first time on October 23, 1967. An high-wing amphibian flying boat, it was specifically designed for firefighting with transport, utility and rescue secondary capabilities. A total of 124 CL-215 aircraft were delivered and 17 of them were later retrofitted to the CL-215T configuration with 1,775 kW (2,380 shp) Pratt & Whitney Canada PW123AF turboprop engines and conspicuous aerodynamic refinements. On December 6, 1993, the revised Canadair model CL-215-6B11 (or CL-415) made its first flight. Powered by the same turboprop engines of the CL-215T, the CL-415 (now in production as the Bombardier 415) has a wing span of 28.63 m (93 ft 11 in), length overall 19.82 m (65 ft 0.5 in) and maximum height 8.98 m (29 ft 5.5 in). Maximum take-off weight from land 19,890 kg (43,850 lb) and maximum cruise speed 203 knots (376 km/h or 234 mph). (Aeromedia)
