Dornier Do 24T-3 dell’Ejercito de l’Aire in mostra al museo Flugwerft Schleissheim. Si tratta di uno dei dodici esemplari comperati dalla Spagna nel 1944, ed utilizzato per soccorso in mare fino alla fine degli anni ’60. Il prototipo Do 24V3, idrovolante trimotore, volò per la prima volta 3 luglio 1937, a seguito di una commessa del governo olandese. La produzione in serie iniziò nei Paesi Bassi, con una trentina di esemplari già consegnati a varie basi nelle Indie Orientali Olandesi, al momento dell’occupazione tedesca nel 1940. Negli anni successivi, Aviolanda e Fokker costruirono altri 154 esemplari per conto della Luftwaffe, utilizzati per trasporto, ricognizione e soprattutto per soccorso in mare. Nel 1942 venne anche allestita una linea di produzione del Do 24T presso la francese CAMS, a Sartrouville, con 46 esemplari prodotti prima della liberazione. Dopo la guerra la SNCAN, nuova denominazione della CAMS, proseguì la produzione del Do 24 per conto della Marina Francese, che uilizzò il tipo fino al 1953. (Aeromedia)
Dornier Do 24T-3 of Spanish Air Force on display at Flugwerft Schleissheim. Spain received 12 aircraft of this type in 1944, used for sea rescue till the end of 1960s. Prototype Do 24V3, three-engined flying boat, flew for the first time on July 3, 1937, after an initial order received by the Dutch Government. Series production was set up in the Netherlands and, at the time of the German occupation in 1940, some 30 aircraft were already active in the Dutch East Indies. In the following years, Aviolanda and Fokker manufactured 154 more Do 24s for the Luftwaffe, which used them in transport, reconnaisance and sea rescue roles. In 1942, a second Do 24T production line was established in France, at the CAMS plant in Sartrouville. Here 46 items were manufactured before the liberation of the country. After the war, the French factory - renamed SNCAN – produced more Do 24s for the French Navy, which used the type till 1953. (Aeromedia)
