Il Cessna Model 340 è un bimotore leggero ad ala bassa, carrello retrattile e cabina pressurizzata per quattro passeggeri più due piloti. Dispone di serbatoi alle estremità alari e di portello d’ingresso con scaletta integrale sul lato posteriore sinistro. Primo volo del prototipo (marche N2340C) nel 1971. Ne viene contemporaneamente commercializzata la versione “340 II” con strumentazione completa. Propulso da due motori turbocompressi a sei cilindri contrapposti, ad iniezione, Teledyne Continental TSIO-520K da 213 kW (285 hp), con elica bipala (tripala opzionale) a passo costante. Dimensioni principali: apertura alare 11,62 m; lunghezza 10,46 m; altezza 3,84 m; superficie alare 17,16 m2. Pesi: a vuoto 1.676 kg; totale 2.710 kg. Prestazioni: velocità massima 226 nodi (418 km/h); velocità di crociera 210 nodi (388 km/h). Quota di crociera 8.075 metri e raggio d’azione massimo di 1.425 miglia nautiche (2.641 km). Produzione totale 350 esemplari. Nel 1978 viene introdotta la nuova versione Model 340A con pressurizzazione migliorata, nuovi interni e motori Teledyne Continental TSIO-520NB da 231 kW (310 hp), con elica tripala di serie con sistema synchrophaser. Dimensioni identiche al Model 340. Pesi: a vuoto 1.791 kg; totale 2.710 kg. Prestazioni: velocità massima 244 nodi (452 km/h); velocità di crociera 230 nodi (425 km/h). Quota di crociera 9.085 metri e raggio d’azione massimo di 1.372 miglia nautiche (2.543 km). Totale di 948 esemplari costruiti fino al 1985, quando termina la produzione del Cessna 340A, comprese le versioni con avionica inclusa 340A II e III. (Aeromedia)

The Cessna Model 340 is a twin-engined light business aircraft with low-wing, retractable landing gear and pressurized cabin for four passengers and two pilots. It is fitted with tip tanks and port side rear entry airstair door. First flight of the prototype (N2340C) in 1971. The Model “340 II”, with full avionic suite, was also offered. Both variants were powered by two 213 kW (285 hp) Teledyne Continental TSIO-520K six-cylinder horizontally-opposed air-cooled turbocharged fuel-injection engines, each driving a two-blade (three-blade option) constant-speed propeller. Main dimensions: wing span 11.62 m (38 ft 1.3 in); length overall 10.46 m (34 ft 4 in); height 3.84 m (12 ft 6.8 in) and wing area 17.16 sm (184.7 sq ft). Weights: empty 1,676 kg (3,695 lb); total 2,710 kg (5,975 lb). performance: max speed 226 knots (418 km/h 260 mph); cruise speed 210 knots (388 km/h 242 mph).
