L'EH Industries (Agusta/Westland) EH 101 PP6 (MMX-605) esposto a Maristaeli Luni in occasione del 30° anniversario del 5° Gruppo nel 1999. Si tratta del sesto di nove esemplari di preproduzione dell'elicottero multiruolo prodotto dal consorzio formato dalla Agusta e dalla britannica Westland. Esso volò per la prima volta il 26 aprile 1989 e venne utilizzato, tra l'altro, per le prove di appontaggio, in condizioni operative, sia sulla Garibaldi che sull'incrociatore Andrea Doria, conclusesi nel 1991. Succesivamente l'elicottero venne utilizzato per simulazioni di operazioni SAR per conto delle forze armate canadesi. L'EH 101 è stato ordinato dalla Marina Militare in 16 esemplari: otto in versione ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare), quattro ASVW/E (Anti-Submarine and Vessel Warfare, Enhanced) e quattro per trasporto truppe speciali (si tratta di un modello con pale del rotore e coda ripiegabili ma anche dotato della rampa posteriore tipica della Serie 400 Utility militare); altri otto esemplari sono stati inoltre opzionati dalla nostra Marina.
EH Industries (Agusta/Westland) EH 101 PP6 (MMX-605) on display at Maristaeli Luni in occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Italian Navy 5th Helicopter Group in 1999. It is the sixth of nine pre-production helicopters produced by a consortium formed by Agusta and Westland. It flew for the first time on April 26th, 1989 and was used for sea-trials, concluded in 1991, on board aircraft-carrier cruiser Garibaldi and cruiser Andrea Doria. Before being phased out, it was also used for SAR operational tests on behalf of the Canadian armed forces. Sixteen EH 101s have been ordered by the Italian Navy: eight in the ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) version, four ASVW/E (Anti-Submarine and Vessel Warfare, Enhanced) and four for special troops transport, the latter being a version retaining the main rotor blades and tail folding and also equipped with the same rear ramp, typical of the 400 series military utility variant. Eight additional EH 101s are on option by the Italian Navy.
