VFW 614-100 F-GATG della francese Air Alsace in rullaggio a Torino/Caselle nel novembre 1978. Il prototipo di questo bireattore da trasporto a corto raggio volò per la prima volta il 14 luglio 1971. Inconfondibile per l’originale installazione dei motori in gondole sopra le ali, il VFW 614 è propulso da due turbofan Rolls-Royce M.45H Mk501 da 34,5 kN (7.760 libbre, 3.520 kg) di spinta statica unitaria. Sedici esemplari di serie furono costruiti a Brema e consegnati al cliente di lancio danese Cimber Air (2), alle francesi TAT-Touraine Air Transport (8) ed Air Alsace (3) oltre a tre esemplari alla Luftwaffe (3). Il programma fu cancellato nel 1979, anche per la mancanza di ulteriori ordini. (Aeromedia)

The prototype of this German twin-turbofan short haul transport flew for the first time on July 14, 1971. Distinguished by its original engine arrangement with over-wing nacelles, VFW 614 is powered by two 34.5 kN (7.760 lb s.t., 3,520 kg s.t.) Rolls-Royce M.45H Mk501 turbofans. It accomodates 36-44 passengers, with a flight crew of two. Sixteen series aircraft were manufacured in Bremen and delivered to launch customer Cimber Air of Denmark (2), TAT-Touraine Air Transport (8) and Air Alsace (3) of France, and Luftwaffe (3). In 1979, the programme was discontinued due to lack of further orders. (Aeromedia)
