De Havilland Canada DHC-8-102 C-GGPJ, quarto prototipo del biturboelica regionale canadese, in rullaggio al Salone di Parigi del 1985. Questo “Dash 8-102” volò per la prima volta il 3 aprile 1984 e, dopo la fase di certificazione e successiva conversione allo standard operativo, fu consegnato, il 15 giugno 1988, alla canadese Air Atlantic. Successivamente ha operato per conto di varie compagnie aeree australiane: con marche VH-TQO, dal 1° gennaio 1989, Eastern Australia; con marche VH-QQB, dal 29 luglio 2005, Airlines of Papua New Guinea; dal 21 settembre 2005, Queensland Regional Airlines; dal 19 gennaio 2006 Maroomba Airlines ed infine, dal 1° settembre 2007, Skytrans Regional. Il primo dei quattro Dash 8 prototipici (DHC-8-100 C-GDNK) volò per la prima volta il 20 giugno 1983, fu poi “allungato” come prototipo del Dash 8-300 (primo volo 15 maggio 1987), per essere poi demolito alcuni anni dopo. Il secondo DHC-8-100 della ditta (C-GGMP) volò il 26 ottobre 1983 ed è attualmente accantonato. Il terzo (DHC-8-102 C-GGOM) effettuò il primo volo il 22 dicembre 1983, fu venduto alla canadese Air BC il 17 dicembre 1985, poi all’Air Canada Regional (2001), all’Air Canada Jazz (2002), alla statunitense Freedom Airlines (nel 2006, marche N801LR) e, dal 5 aprile 2009, è in servizio con la Presidential Airways, sempre in USA. Il primo esemplare di serie (n/c 6) fu consegnato alla NorOntair, il 23 ottobre 1984, per entrare in servizio il 19 dicembre successivo. (Aeromedia)

This “Dash 8-102” made its maiden flight on April 3, 1984 and, after the conclusion of the certification phase and refurbishment, was delivered to Air Atlantic (Canada) on June 15, 1988. Subsequently it was used by a number of Australian airlines: as VH-TQO, from January 1, 1989, by Eastern Australia; re-registered VH-QQB, from July 29, 2005, by Airlines of Papua New Guinea; from September 21, 2005, by Queensland Regional Airlines; from January 19, 2006 by Maroomba Airlines and at last, from September 1, 2007, by Skytrans Regional. The first of four Dash 8 prototypes (DHC-8-100 C-GDNK) flew for the first time on June 20, was later stretched to become the Dash 8-300 prototype (first flight on May 15, 1987) and was later scrapped. The second company’s DHC-8-100 prototype (C-GGMP) made its maiden flight on October 26, 1983; at present it is stored. The third item (DHC-8-102 C-GGOM) flew for the first time on December 22, 1983. In the following years it started a long operational career: Air BC of Canada (from December 17, 1985), Air Canada Regional (from 2001), Air Canada Jazz (from 2002), Freedom Airlines of USA (from 2006, as N801LR) and at last, from April 5, 2009, it is in service with Presidential Airways, another U.S. airline. The first series DHC-8-102 (c/n 6) was delivered to NorOntair on October 23, 1984, and entered revenue service on December 19, that year. (Aeromedia)
