Siebert Sie 3 PH-498 (n/c 3025) durante uno stage volovelistico all’aeroporto “Corrado Gex” Aosta/St.Christophe AOT/LIMW, il 28 marzo 1986. Il prototipo del Sie 3, aliante monoposto Classe Standard progettato da Paul Seiebert, volò per la prima volta nel 1971. Di tradizionale costruzione lignea, il Sie 3 ha un’ala alta con sezione centrale a corda costante ed estremità rastremate. L’ala è dotata di aerofreni in alluminio tipo Schempp-Hirt. Gli impennaggi sono a freccia, con stabilizzatore monoblocco. Il tettuccio è integrale ed il carrello monotraccia è formato da un ruotino centrale frenante e dal pattino di coda. Nonostante le discrete prestazioni, la formula costruttiva ormai superata limitò il successo del Sie 3. La Paul Siebert Sportund Segelflugzeugbau produsse, fino al 1975, un totale di appena 27 Sie 3, diversi dei quali esportati. (Aeromedia)
Siebert Sie 3 PH-498 (c/n 3025) during a flight stage at Aosta/St.Christophe “Corrado Gex” airport AOT/LIMW (Italy) on March 28, 1986. The prototype of Sie 3, Standard Class single-seat glider designed by Paul Seiebert, flew for the first time in 1971. Of conventional wooden construction, the Sie 3 is a cantilever high wing monoplane with a constant chord centre section and tapeed outer panels. Schempp-Hirt type aluminium air brakes are fitted. The fin and rudder are swept back and the low set tailplane is an all-moving surface. Landing gear consists of a monowheel with brake and tailskid. One-piece flush-fitting cockpit canopy. Due to obsolete construction system, the Sie 3 did not attain a significant commercial success. By 1875, Paul Siebert Sportund Segelflugzeugbau produced a total of just 27 Sie 3’s. (Aeromedia)
