FIAT CR.42 Falco MM4267 della 367a Squadriglia del 151° Gruppo del 53° Stormo Caccia Terrestre della Regia Aeronautica in volo su Torino. La foto fu donata al capo redattore di Aeromedia dal Sergente Tolmino Zanarini, pilota della 367a Squadriglia nel 1939. L'ultimo giorno di agosto 1940, il 151° Gruppo C.T. (366a, 367a e 368a Squadriglie) ricevette l'ordine di schierarsi in Libia con trenta caccia CR.42, come rinforzo per l'attacco contro Sidi el Barrani. Il reparto, al comando del Maggiore Carlo Calosso, era stato uno dei primi a essere equipaggiato con i biplani CR.42 e nel 1939 era di stanza a Caselle, con sezioni e squadriglie distaccate in diverse basi aeree del Nord Italia con compiti di difesa locale. L’intero Gruppo partì da Caselle la mattina del 6 settembre 1940 e alle 18,20 dell'8 settembre giunse all’aeroporto Tripoli-Castel Benito. La formazione della 367a Squadriglia comprendeva undici piloti. Tra loro c'erano il Capitano Simeone Marsan (ufficiale in comando), il Tenente Irzio Bozzolan, il Tenente Aldo Bonuti, il Sergente Maggiore Gino Bogoni, il Sergente Tolmino Zanarini, il Tenente Giuseppe Costantini, il Maresciallo Bruno Castellani, il Sergente Maggiore Rodolfo Benco, il Sergente Maggiore Bruno Celotto, il Sergente Renato Mingozzi e il Sergente Maggiorino Soldati. Zanarini partecipò, fino al 1943, a numerose missioni di scorta ai bombardieri SM.79 e di pattugliamento offensivo. Il 19 dicembre 1949, nel cielo di Sidi el Azeiza e in collaborazione con altri aerei della squadriglia, Zanarini abbatté un Hurricane della RAF e ne danneggiò altri due. In un'altra missione, durante una battaglia aerea, rimase ferito ma riuscì a rientrare alla base con l’aereo danneggiato. FIAT CR.42 Falco MM4267 from the 367th Squadron of the 151st Group of the 53rd Land Fighter Wing of the Royal Italian Air Force, flying over Turin. The photo was donated to the Aeromedia chief editor by Sergeant Tolmino Zanarini, pilot of the 367th Squadron in 1939. On the last day of August 1940, the 151st Combat Aviation Group (366th, 367th, and 368th Squadrons) received orders to deploy to Libya with thirty CR.42 fighters, as reinforcements for the attack on Sidi el Barrani. The unit, under the command of Major Carlo Calosso, had been one of the first to be equipped with CR.42 biplanes and in 1939 was stationed at Caselle, with sections and squadrons detached to various air bases in Northern Italy for local defence duties. The entire Group departed Caselle on the morning of September 6, 1940, and arrived at Tripoli-Castel Benito airport at 6,20 PM on September 8. The 367th Squadron formation included eleven pilots. Among them were Captain Simeone Marsan (the commanding officer), Lieutenant Irzio Bozzolan, Lieutenant Aldo Bonuti, Sergeant Major Gino Bogoni, Sergeant Tolmino Zanarini, Lieutenant Giuseppe Costantini, Marshal Bruno Castellani, Sergeant Major Rodolfo Benco, Sergeant Major Bruno Celotto, Sergeant Renato Mingozzi, and Sergeant Maggiorino Soldati. Zanarini participated in numerous missions escorting SM.79 bombers and offensive patrols until 1943. On December 19, 1949, in the skies above Sidi el Azeiza and in collaboration with other aircraft of the squadron, Zanarini shot down an RAF Hurricane and damaged two others. On another mission, during an air battle, he was wounded but managed to return to base with the damaged aircraft.
