North American AT-16 Texan I-BWUL (n/c 14A-1415 costruito dalla Noorduyn Aviation nel 1944) si esibisce durante la Giornata dell’Aria tenutasi a Torino/Aeritalia il 2 ottobre 2022. L’addestratore avanzato Texan, utilizzato da varie forze aeree alleate, fu costruito in massa non solo dalla North American Aviation ma anche, su licenza, dalle società canadesi Noorduyn Aviation e Canadian Car & Foundry. Dopo la seconda guerra mondiale fu fornito anche alle nazioni che fondarono o aderirono alla NATO. La lunga storia dell’esemplare illustrato iniziò con l’assegnazione del serial USAF 43-13116 e l’immediata consegna alla Royal Air Force che lo incorporò con il nome Harvard IIB e il codice individuale FT375. Nel luglio 1996 l’aereo ricevette le marche civili britanniche G-BWUL. Dopo due anni con marche USA N16NA, tornò ad essere G-BWUL nel luglio 1999. Basato da tempo in Italia, l’aereo fu certificato con marche I-BWUL nel 2015. (Aeromedia)

North American AT-16 Texan I-BWUL (c/n 14A-1415 built by Noorduyn Aviation in 1944) making a low pass during the “Giornata dell’Aria” held at Turin/Aeritalia Airport on October 2, 2022. The Texan advanced trainer, used by various Allied air forces, was mass-built not only by North American Aviation but also, under license, by the Canadian companies Noorduyn Aviation and Canadian Car & Foundry. After the Second World War, it was also supplied to the nations that founded or joined NATO. The long history of the aircraft illustrated began with the assignment of the USAF serial 43-13116 and the immediate delivery to the Royal Air Force which incorporated it with the designation Harvard IIB and the individual code FT375. In July 1996, the aircraft received the British civil registration G-BWUL. After two years with US registration N16NA, it reverted to G-BWUL in July 1999. Long based in Italy, the aircraft was certified with registration I-BWUL in 2015. (Aeromedia)
