Ernesto Vallerani graduated in aeronautical engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1961. He joined FIAT Avio in 1963, where he was involved in space programmes. Head of Aeritalia GSS (Gruppo Sistemi Spaziali) from 1980 and Alenia Spazio from 1991 to 1997, Vallerani was later president of the ICARUS centre, which became ALTEC in 2004. Since 2006, Vallerani has served as Educational Manager of the international master's programme SEEDS (SpacE Exploration and Development Systems), which he co-founded in 2005. The aim of the SEEDS programme is to provide university students with the skills needed to work in various fields within the space sector. In addition to the Polytechnic University of Turin, the Institut Supérieur de l’Aéronautique et l’Espace in Toulouse and the University of Leicester (UK) are also involved. A number of these young people will form the heart of ALTEC over the next twenty years of success. (Aeromedia)
