L'ingresso della Dryden Flight Research Facility/Ames Research Center della NASA nella Edwards Air Force Base. Il gate-guardian è l'unico esemplare del veicolo da ricerca a fusoliera portante Northrop ML-10. Dopo il primo volo avvenuto il 22 dicembre 1966, con sgancio da un B-52, l'ML-10 (marche civili N804NA) venne dotato di razzi ed utilizzato per raccogliere preziosi dati di volo in funzione del successivo sviluppo dello Space Shuttle. Al centro si nota il B.747 della NASA usato per trasportare lo Space Shuttle e, sullo sfondo, l'area di Muroc dove vennero sperimentati l'X-1 e l'X-2. (Aeromedia)
The gate to the NASA's Dryden Flight Research Facility/Ames Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base. The gate-guardian on the right is the unique Northrop ML-10 lifting body research vehicle. Carrying civil registration N804NA, it flew for the first time on December 22, 1966, released from the NASA B-52. After the installation of rocket motors, it collected useful flight data for the successive development of the Space Shuttle. The B.747 used by NASA for the Space Shuttle ferry-flights is visible as, in the background, the Muroc area where the X-1 and X-2 performed their outstanding flight activity. (Aeromedia)
