Boeing B.720-047B 5Y-BBX della Kenya Airways in atterraggio a Roma/Fiumicino nel dicembre 1978. Il B.720B era le versione con motori turbofan del precedente B.720 (inizialmente designato B.707-020), il modello alleggerito, accorciato e con minore autonomia del B.707, destinato ai collegamenti coast-to-coast USA. L'esemplare illustrato aveva volato per la prima volta il 3 aprile 1963 ed era entrato in linea con la compagnia statunitense Western Air Lines con marche N93148. Nel maggio del 1978, sette mesi prima che venisse scattata la foto, la Kenya Airways lo aveva preso a noleggio dalla ILFC, per incrementare le frequenze sulle rotte verso l'Europa. (Aeromedia)
Kenya Airways' Boeing B.720-047B 5Y-BBX lands at Rome/Fiumicino, December 1978. The B.720B was the turbofan version of the former B.720 (original designation B.707-020), a shorter fuselage, lightweight and intermediate-range evolution of the B.707 aimed to serve the US coast-to-coast routes. The depicted aircraft flew for the first time April 3, 1963, days before the delivery to US carrier Western Air Lines as N93148. In May 1978, seven months before the picture was taken, Kenya Airways leased the aircraft from ILFC, to expand its network towards Europe. (Aeromedia)
