Boeing CH-47C Chinook dell'U.S. Army ad Aviano nel 1981. Il prototipo del Chinook volò nel 1961, con due versioni iniziali CH-47A e B. L'esperienza maturata nella fase iniziale della guerra in Vietnam portò allo sviluppo del più prestante CH-47C, entrato in servizio in gran numero dal 1968. Nel 1976 iniziò il primo programma di ricostruzione di tutti i Chinook ancora in servizio. Conseguentemente, tra il 1981 ed il 1993 vennero consegnati 472 CH-47D ed MH-47E Special Operations, totale che comprendeva alcuni esemplari costruiti ex novo (11 dei quali di produzione Agusta). Boeing CH-47C Chinook of U.S. Army at Aviano air base, 1981. The Chinook prototype flew for the first time in 1961. Two initial versions were produced as CH-47A and B. The experience gained in the first stage of the Vietnam war led to the development of the more able CH-47C model. It entered service from 1968 and was manufactured in large quantity. In 1976 the first major programme began to remanufacture all the Chinooks still in service. Accordingly, from 1981 to 1993 a total of 472 CH-47Ds and MH-47Es (Special Operations) were delivered, including a number of new built aircraft (11 from the Agusta production line). (Aeromedia)
