La rivista IndustryWeek ha annunciato oggi l'elenco dei dieci vincitori del premio "Best Plants 2002". Il complesso produttivo di Long Beach, in California, dove viene realizzato l'aereo da trasporto militare Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, è stato scelto come uno dei migliori siti industriali del Nord America.
La competizione per l'annuale "Best Plants", riconoscimento istituito da IndustryWeek nel 1990, premia gli stabilimenti che si impegnano nel campo della competitività, della "customer satisfaction" e che nello stesso tempo rappresentano un ambiente di lavoro stimolante e gratificante. Quest'anno erano in lista per il premio "Best Plants" circa 300 candidati.
Nel citare i pregi della fabbrica dei C-17, IndustryWeek ha descritto le strutture di Long Beach "un sito dove si raggiungono grandi risultati in termini di prodotto e di processo." La rivista aggiunge poi che "Il complesso del C-17 è da segnalare come un esempio dell'eccellenza organizzativa grazie al coinvolgimento delle maestranze ed all'impiego di tecnologie avanzate."

The Boeing C-17 Globemaster III airlifter production complex in Long Beach, Calif., has been named one of the top manufacturing plants in North America by the editors of IndustryWeek magazine, who today announced the facility has earned one of ten 2002 Best Plant awards.
Established in 1990, IndustryWeek's annual Best Plants competition recognizes facilities that are on the leading edge of efforts to increase competitiveness, enhance customer satisfaction, and create stimulating and rewarding work environments. There were approximately 300 entries in this year's Best Plants competition.
In honoring the C-17 complex, IndustryWeek called the Long Beach facility, "a place of record achievement both in terms of the product and the process." The publication added, "The Boeing C-17 complex is benchmarked as an example of the process excellence possible via employee involvement and lean manufacturing technologies."
