43rd Paris Air Show

This year's show, organized by Gifas (the French aerospace industry association), will be opened on the morning of Saturday 12 June by French President Jacques Chirac; this first day is also press and media preview day. The Air Show will be officially declared open on Sunday 13 June; Monday 14 to Friday 18 inclusive are reserved for trade visitors. The show will be open to the general public on Sunday 13, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 June.
As of 15 April, the number of exhibitors planning to attend stood at 1,629, from 40 countries. Private chalet bookings for 1999 total 451, up 15% on the 405 hired in 1997. At 50,084 sq.m. the total covered display area for the stands is up 12% on the 48,516 sq.m occupied in 1997, while outside displays are expected to occupy 5 to 10% more surface.
Over 170 aircraft will be displayed at this year show and 70 of them will fly during the daily air display programme, from 12.30 to 4.30 pm; major air shows will be performed on 19 and 20 June.
