GlobalAir.com ha attivato la sua più recente applicazione aeronautica in internet. Si tratta di un'area di immagazzinamento dati on-line riservata ai piloti e denominata "Save-A-Log". Grazie ad essa i piloti potranno scannerizzare il loro libretto di volo e metterlo al sicuro in un server riservato della GlobalAir.com, al costo di 9.95 USD al mese. In questo modo è possibile disporre dei propri libretti sempre ed ovunque. Tenendo conto che i log book hanno la tendenza ad essere smarriti o rubati, Save-A-Log consente di avere una copia di riserva di questi documenti.
Il sistema permette di scannerizzare l'immagine di una pagina del libretto di volo, salvarla sul computer ed inviarla al sito GlobalAir.com per la conservazione. Non occorre installare particolari software in quanto il sistema funziona semplicemente via internet e con la specifica applicazione del server GlobalAir.com. Quando un pilota vuole controllare o far vedere il proprio libretto ad un potenziale datore di lavoro, può utilizzare la funzione di ricerca per trovare le pagine del proprio log book e poi recuperarle, eventualmente zippate per fare prima. The aviation portal GlobalAir.com released today its newest aviation internet application. An on-line storage application for Pilots log books called "Save-A-Log". It will enable pilots the ability to scan their personal log books and store them on GlobalAir.com's secure storage servers. Cost for the service will be $9.95 per month. This will give any pilot the capability to have a set of log books at his disposal at any time day or night. Given the fact that log books manage to get themselves lost or stolen, Save-A-Log enables a pilot to have a set of secure and current backup log books.
The system allows a pilot to scan in the image of a log book page save it on his or her computer and then use the GlobalAir.com web site application to load the image to the storage servers. There is no software to install; it is all run through the Internet and GlobalAir.com's server side application. When a pilot wants to review or show his logbook to a potential employer, he or she can use the search feature and retrieve their pages then use the zip tool for easy download.
