L’Alenia Aermacchi ha presentato ufficialmente oggi alla Forza Aerea di Singapore il primo dei 12 velivoli da addestramento avanzato M-346 ordinati nel 2010 per rimpiazzare gli attuali TA-4SU Super Skyhawks, impiegati nel ruolo AJT (Advanced Jet Training) sulla base dell’Armée de l'Air di Cazaux, in Francia.
La cerimonia di presentazione del primo M-346 della RSAF si è svolta presso gli stabilimenti Alenia Aermacchi di Venegono Superiore, alla presenza dei vertici della Forza Aerea di Singapore, della singaporegna ST Aerospace e della Boeing, oltre ad una rappresentanza del personale coinvolto nel programma.
Alla fine di settembre 2010 fu firmato il primo contratto internazionale con il Governo di Singapore. Il team, formato dalla capocommessa ST Aerospace, Alenia Aermacchi e Boeing, si è aggiudicato la fornitura di 12 M-346 e dei relativi sistemi di addestramento a terra (GBTS). A giugno 2011 Alenia Aermacchi ha inoltre finalizzato con ST Aerospace i contratti di supporto logistico alla flotta degli M-346 della RSAF. L’avvio delle consegne è previsto per la fine del 2012.

The first M-346 advanced trainer for the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) was officially presented in a ceremony. In 2010, RSAF ordered 12 M-346 aircraft to replace current TA-4SU Super Skyhawks used in the Advanced Jet Training (AJT) role and operating at the Cazaux Air Base of the Armée de l'Air, in France.
The presentation ceremony of the first RSAF’s M-346 - held at the Alenia Aermacchi’s plant in Venegono Superiore, Italy - was attended by officials from the RSAF, key representatives from ST Aerospace of Singapore and Boeing, as well as staff representatives involved in the programme.
In September 2010, ST Aerospace, as the prime contractor - teaming with Alenia Aermacchi and Boeing - was awarded a contract to supply 12 M-346 aircraft and ground based training system for the RSAF. In June, 2011, Alenia Aermacchi also finalised contracts with ST Aerospace to provide logistics support to the RSAF’s fleet of M-346. The delivery of the first M-346 to the RSAF is scheduled for the end of 2012.
