Nexus Arrives

First AgustaWestland AW 109N Nexus light twin helicopters are entering service with the Italian government law enforcement agencies. The Nexus, a new dedicated version of A 109 helicopter with elements of previous variants, is tailored for the fleet renewal programmes of agencies such as Polizia di Stato (State Police), Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza (Custom Police) and Corpo Forestale dello Stato (State Forestry Corps).
The first batch of AW 109N Nexus helicopters was delivered, in December, 2007, to the Italian Carabinieri military service at the AgustaWestland Vergiate plant, Italy. The aircraft were accepted by Col. Luca Corbo, Chief of Aviation and Naval Services, Italian Carabinieri. The AW 109N Nexus will be incorporated into the Carabinieri's Aviation Service fleet as the new generation light twin helicopter, replacing older models such as Agusta/Bell AB 206 and Agusta A 109A helicopters. At the moment, no technical details of the Nexus have been released by the manufacturer.
